Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Delhi

You will be welcomed at the airport by a member of the Puppet India Tours team, escorted to your air-conditioned car, and introduced to your driver.  After checking in into your hotel, you can relax and get used to the hustle and bustle of incredible India. If you are arriving early morning and wish to visit the city, your driver will be standing by.

Day 2
Delhi

Your tour guide will introduce you to the sights of Old and New Delhi: India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, President House, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Connaught Place, Jama Masjid, Red Fort, and Chandni Chowk.  There is lot to see and experience in Delhi. You can shop in the city’s busiest bazaar, Chandni Chowk. Visit Gandhi’s memorial. Ride a rickshaw in Old Delhi. Wander through Lodhi Gardens. Take a boat ride inside the Akshardham Temple. These activities are all suggestions; your Delhi tour can be tailored to your interests.  After your tour, the car and driver remain available if you want to venture out for dinner. Day 3
Delhi to Agra

A three-hour drive takes you to Agra where the main attraction is the incredible Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan for his beloved wife, Mumtaz. On your arrival, check into your hotel and have a leisurely lunch. Then meet your tour guide who will walk you through the Agra Fort where Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son and allowed to gaze at the dome of the Taj through a tiny window. In the evening, you can experience the Taj Mahal at sunset, when it is said that the white marble of the Taj Mahal shimmers with the colors of the setting sun. You can return to your hotel or explore dining options, such the excellent Pinch of Spice restaurant.

Day 4
Agra to Jaipur enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri

Your driver and guide will take you on an early morning visit to the Taj Mahal where you can enter the monument and stroll the lovely gardens. Mid-morning, you’ll set off for Jaipur, with a choice of two stops along the five-hour route. Fatehpur Sikri is an Indo-Islamic masterpiece which was built in the 1500s but was abandoned not 100 years later. Abhaneri is a small village where you will see the most beautiful step well in India, Chand Baori. 

Arriving in Jaipur, you will check-in into a heritage hotel where you can rest and dine on freshly-made naan breads and delightful curries

Day 5
Jaipur

Your guide will take you on a city tour where you will see the Hawa Mahal surrounded by the extensive bazaars of the Pink City. Then enjoy an elephant ride to the beautiful Amber Fort, its walls winding incredibly over the nearby hills. Then tour the City Palace, which continues to be the home of the Royal Family of Jaipur. Complete your day tour at Jantar Mantar to discover the world’s largest sundial and other incredible instruments that were built by ancient astronomers. Later relax at your hotel and perhaps visit Chokhi Dhani, a Rajasthani themed restaurant with local folk music, magicians, and a traditional puppet show.

Day 6
Jaipur to Jodhpur enroute visiting Pushkar

Continue your journey through majestic Rajasthan by visiting the beautiful city of Jodhpur, which is also called the Blue City. You can break up the six-our drive by stopping in Pushkar, a small town known as a Hindu pilgrimage stopover and site of the world’s only Brahma temple. Pushkar is also famous for its amazing Camel Fair, which takes place in October or November.

From Pushkar, continue to Jodhpur and watch the rural life of small villages unfold along the highway. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. In the evening, take a stroll through Jodhpur’s old city. In the twilight, you can shop for antique furniture and Jodhpur’s famous leather goods. Enjoy dinner at your hotel or dine at Chokelao Mahal with a view of the massive Mehrangarh Fort.

Day 7
Jodhpur

Start your day with a guided tour of Mehrangarh Fort which is still owned by the royal family of Jodhpur and then visit Jaswant Thada and Umaid Bhawan Palace. Your driver will take you to Bishnoi village where residents adhere to 29 tenets that include protecting plants and animals. You can have lunch, meet the local villagers, and learn about their culture. You can also enjoy a camel cart ride or a jeep safari before returning to your hotel in Jodhpur.

Day 8
Jodhpur to Udaipur enroute visiting Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur

After breakfast continue your journey to the beautiful lake city of Udaipur. Enroute, take a break from the six-hour drive to visit Ranakpur’s Jain Temple famous for 1444 distinctively carved pillars, and Kumbhalgarh Fort that extends for 36 kilometers, its length exceeded only by The Great Wall of China.

Soon you will arrive in Udaipur, the most romantic and beautiful city in Rajasthan. The city encompasses beautiful lakes and is surrounded by the Aravali Hills. Upon arrival, check into your hotel on Lake Pichola where you can enjoy the evening relaxing and observing activities alongside the lake from your window or from the rooftop of your hotel.

Day 9
Udaipur

Start your day with a guided tour of the amazing City Palace that overlooks Lake Pichola. There you must visit the Crystal Gallery and then walk the narrow streets of Udaipur to visit Jagdish Temple. Your guide will take you to the tranquil Saheliyon Ki Bari gardens and to the Monsoon Palace high on a hilltop overlooking the city. In the evening enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola to view the sparkling lights reflected in the water. You can take dinner at the hotel or if you want a traditional dining experience visit the Natraj Restaurant where you can order a Thali with small bites of assorted delectables served in a gleaming metal tray.

Day 10
Udaipur/Departure

After a leisurely breakfast, your driver will take you to the Udaipur airport where you can fly to Delhi and connect to your international flight home. As an option, you can extend your stay in Delhi for additional chauffeured shopping and sightseeing.
